Handmade with a pottery production technique, this original piece embodies the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. I’d like to note there is a tiny chip on the top of the head at the top of one feather, (see pictures).

Antique 18thC Bow Porcelain Bird Bocage Figurine Figure Porzellan Figur English

A really nice figurine of colorful pheasant type bird perched in a tree made by Bow around the mid 18th century. He is hiding in the center of the tree with the bocage all around him on a nice base with puce highlighted scrolls. The figure is nicely modeled and hand painted. The flowers and bird are especially nice! The piece is in superb condition with a few minor chips and an odd looking area to the back in one area of the bocage – it seems like a factory repair to me rather than a restoration. From the front that is invisible. A firing crack to the edge of the base but all in all as nice as you can find! The piece is unmarked underneath but that’s the norm. The figurine is 8.5 inches tall, 5.75 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Derby, Chelsea and so on. 14th-15th C Sawankhalok Porcelain Bird Figure – Si Satchanalai, Sukhothai. Museum-quality Sangkhalok ceramic bird figure from the 14th-15th century (Kingdom of Sukhothai), excavated from the ancient kilns of Si Satchanalai. Fine craftsmanship on the wings, with a superb celadon glaze preserved on an almost perfect form. A striking example of early Thai porcelain artistry. Period: 14th-15th Century (Sukhothai Kingdom). Origin: Ancient kilns of Si Satchanalai, Sukhothai (modern-day Thailand). Subject: Bird figure with detailed wing carving. Height: 50 mm (? 1.97 in). Length: 68 mm (? 2.68 in). Width: 40 mm (? 1.57 in). Condition: Nearly flawless, minimal glaze wear only on base. Sawankhalok ceramics flourished during the Sukhothai period, exported extensively throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
