6 LENOX RICHARD BISHOP WILD GAME BIRD SERIES DINNER PLATES WITH GAME BIRD ETCHINGS. By Lenox during the 1930s. The set is part of a series of plates featuring etchings by Richard E. There were 12 dinner plates in this “Wild Game Bird” series, 6 of which featured various species of waterfowl and 6 that depicted different game birds. This set includes the 6 game bird plates. Each dinner plate measures about 10 1/2 in diameter and has platinum trim. The back side is marked with the title of the etching, some descriptive information, and the Lenox logo used from 1930 to 1953. Please note that this Wild Game Bird series with Richard Bishop etchings was first produced by Lenox during the 1930s, then later by Castleton China in the 1950s. This set is from the original 1930s Lenox series. Lenox has filled orders for 4 American presidents, and their china was selected by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art for its 1989 exhibit on American porcelain. It’s the only American china ever shown at the renowned Ceramic Museum in Sevres, France. Condition of these Lenox game bird series plates is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, fleabites, or crazing. The set appears to have been used very little, if at all. I don’t see any utensil marks or noticeable scratches. This set displays beautifully and would make a fine addition to any wildlife theme table setting. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself. Antique Richard Klemm Dresden Boy Fire Wood Log Birds Porcelain Figurine Statue. Today we are happy to offer for sale a lovely Richard Klemm Dresden porcelain figure! A bit of info on Richard Klemm Dresden. Karl Richard Klemm founded a porcelain decorating studio in Striesen bei Dresden in 1869. At the time, there were more than forty studios in and around Dresden that specialized in the painting of porcelain in the Meissen style. The porcelain was obtained primarily from the Meissen factory itself, much of it being seconds. The decorating style of Richard Klemm closely matched that of the Meissen factories at that time. He often used a heavily applied style that focused on florals. In many instances, the porcelain pieces of Richard Klemm are emblazoned with a gold leaf at the base. Richard Klemm, along with Helena Wolfsohn, Karl Thiem, Ambrosius Lamm and Donath & Co. Were among the most sought after porcelain decorating studios at this time. In the early 1880’s Richard Klemm registered his mark, the “Klemm Dresden Crown”, as design No 24, at the Reichs-Warenzeichenregister, or RWZR, which was the central office for registering of all porcelain trade names and marks. He merged his company with the studio of Donath & Co. The beautiful figurine is finely crafted and detailed of porcelain. It depicts a young man wearing winter coat, hat, scarf, and boots sitting atop a rock with an ax next to him. He is putting cut logs into a fire by his foot while two love birds rest on a branch next to him. The young man has a happy expression on his face (perhaps he is waiting for his sweetheart to show up). The figurine is beautifully hand-painted and marked on the bottom “RK Dresden”. Figure presents well and is in very good antique condition, with very minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. There is small fleabite chip on the boy’s hair and a chipped leaf on the back side.
