Stunning RARE, very Large size 19th Century Antique French Bisque Statue. Antique VION & Baury Hand Painted Bisque Statues with Green Anchor Mark. Fine Gentleman with doves birds on his arm Bisque is unglazed porcelain which displays just like carved marble and allow to reach better quality and stunning detail. He is in overall wonderful condition. One of the birds wings has been professionally repaired in a type of plastic resin – the same wing was snapped off again and glued with visible seam & minor flea bit paint loss on tip (refer to photos) I can detect no other flaws or blemishes. These are HEAVY, Large Substantial Statue. Jean Gille/Vion & Charles Baury are the founders of the Rue de Paradis-Poissonniere Factory of France in about 1845. They made figurines, statues, dinnerware, and decorative items. Vion and Baury, along with someone named Poyard (possibly faience artist Charles Poyard) were the successors to Jean-Marie Gille’s porcelain factory in Paris when Gille died in 1868. The partnership with Poyard lasted but a few years. Vion and Baury continued to operate the factory until the mid 1870’s when a new factory was opened in Choisy-le-Roi. Baury died in 1879 and Vion continued with the business. In 1880 the factory was expanded and went bankrupt in 1889. I take great care and time to package items carefully and securely.
