Antique Worcester Soup Tureen with Underplate & Lid. Colorful Hand Painted Chinoiserie Garden Tree Birds c. A wonderful hand painted English porcelain soup tureen hand painted in a vivid palette of Chinoiserie style elements featuring a vase of florals, trees, birds in garden and a basket of florals. The colors and themes of typical Chinese export are displayed in this varied pattern. The rim of tureen bowl as well as the underplate offer a fluted and gilded border with ornate handles that have a pair of Empire mask detail. The tureen lid has formed gilded rose and vine with leaves in relief. No marks to indicate maker but I do feel it is very likely Worcester. There is a small green hand painted W on the base of tureen near rim. Stunning colors of rich red, browns, pink, turquoise, blue, teal and orange with elaborate gilt details throughout. Tureen height is 9 inches to top of finial. Width from handle to handle is 11 inches. Underplate diameter is 11 inches. Opening of the bowl is 7.75 inches from rim to rim. Condition is as follows: the lid has a repair and a chip near rim. Tureen base has a small dark crazing line on the inner rim. The underplate has no damage or repairs.
