Lovely Porcelain and Cloisonné Figure Maiden / Woman / Lady Feeding a Perched Bird with original box. This is a very elegant v. Intage pair of Chinese porcelain and cloisonné figures / statuettes. The main figure depicts a young woman / maiden / lady-of-court feeding a bird which is sitting on a separate perch. The bird’s perch is held from above by a fine chain, attached to a stand of equally detailed bronze and cloisonné. Some might call the woman “geisha”, though that is technically a Japanese term. Items are both overall in very good condition. The figure of the woman is has some damage to her hand. Showing some repair – see photo details The bird and base and perch for the bird show no damage or repair, but one odd thing is the chain holding up the bird’s perch might be a replacement, and not quite the right length – a bit too long — see photos. Attached to wooden bases. Intricately detailed cloisonné finish with. Lovely accents of pale blue, green, red, white, and other colors. Figure strikes a stately pose, with o. Ne hand holding a bit of food or treat for the bird. Will come in the original box, which is labeled. Made in the Peoples. The hinge-lidded box shows. Signs of wear, especially on the bottom. It is stable, but also has some packing tape and other attempted repairs. Figure is not marked with a specific maker that I can identify, but are definitely vintage, 1970s or slightly later, I expect – as these were collected by my parents who travelled extensively and particularly enjoyed collecting cloisonné. Colored enamel powder is then used to fill the cells. The entire item is then fired in a kiln and subsequently polished. The result is a unique item which is functional, durable, and quite beautiful.
