Antique Porcelain Statue Figurine Parrots. Very beautiful art statue, was found in estate family collection. The figure has collectible value! A lovely old figure for any porcelain collector, it will glorify any house. This is a lovely item to own or to give as a special gift. A very bright, colorful, beautiful figure of two parrots on a branch is made of thin-walled. Faience at the famous porcelain manufactory Hertwig & Co (Khertvig) Germany. At the bottom of the test, the brand Hertwig & Co Germany. No chips, cracks, scuffs. No signs of restoration. For such an antique work, the preservation is simply unique! Height 23 cm / 9 in. Length 19 cm / 7.4 in. Hertwig & Co Porcelain Manufactory (Hertwig) was founded in 1864 by Christophe Hertwig in Germany and Thuringia and produced dolls, decorative items, gifts, as well as ceramic products and porcelain figurines. About 500 people were employed in the production. In 1958, the factory was nationalized and became known as Katzhutte (Katzhutte). The product range has been drastically reduced. A very interesting fact is that at the time of nationalization, a lot of historical samples of the factory were archived. Dolls, vases and figurines were packed in boxes and closed in one of the warehouses. Due to this fact, porcelain items produced in the factory before 1958 are extremely appreciated among connoisseurs and collectors. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the factory was closed. 19th C. Pair of Chinese Famille-Verte Porcelain Parrots Conservatory Fern House

Item Size: 9 inches high Country or Region : China Item Age. Marcel Gibrat (Pictured working on a Greek Kylyx in the 1970s), my grandfather, was a Restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and later owned a Madison Avenue Restoration Studio and Art Gallery one block from the Guggenheim Museum. From the 1960s to 1990s. Marcel was undoubtedly a genius and was, as far as I know, the only Restorer for the Met without a PhD. In fact he had a sixth grade education. He was also a talented painter. Im Max Lewin the curator of what remains of Marcels extensive art collection, comprising ancient, tribal, Asian and European art. I have grown up around art and. I worked with Marcel summers and in college. Marcel was an unquestioned expert in antiquities and all items in the collection from the ancient world are guaranteed to be authentic. Marcel also had a particular affinity for African tribal art, and while dating such items is problematic, he absolutely had impeccable taste. Some of his opinions on provenance of tribal items have been challenged. There are also Asian items of various quality, and many fine and genuine items from primitive cultures including relatively contemporary (a few hundred years old) and both neolithic and upper paleolithic items. Each parrot measures approximately 9″ x 3.5″. Both are in good condition with one having a very small glaze only chip to the beak as shown. They date to the 19th century during the late Qing dynasty. A pair of good Chinese porcelain figures of parrots, dating to the 19th Century. Decorated with turquoise glazes on aubergine glazed, openwork, rockwork bases. Measuring 8.5 high and in good condition apart from two shallow chips to each of the base rims (see photos). Beautiful opposing, matching, pair of antique, Chinese made for export, hand enameled porcelain parrots or birds. Circa late 19th century or late Qing Dynasty to early 20th century or early Republic Period perhaps 1890 – 1920. Impressed CHINA mark on the bottom of each parrot. Measures approximately 9.5 inches tall x 5.5 inches wide x 3.5 inches deep. Very good overall condition with respect to age – no major chips, cracks or repairs to be seen; there are a few small areas that I noticed that have missing enamel – two where it appears the artist missed the area, and one that I noticed on one wing where there is a small flake of the enamel only; I also noticed a place on near the bottom of the base of one bird where there are some of the artist’s fingerprints in the surface of the piece. A pair of authentic antique 18th or early 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty turquoise-glazed biscuit – porcelain models of parrots, each perched upon rockwork bases, their wings folded, their heads slightly cocked and raise.
