Core Craftsmanship: This is a classic piece of Cloisonné (Jingtailan). The side profile clearly shows that the scales on the body and the patterns of the feathers are outlined with fine copper wires (cloisons), which were then filled with enamel glazes and fired in a kiln. Metal Components: The bird’s beak, feet, and the golden edges at the tips of the tail feathers are made of brass. Base: The bird stands on a custom-carved hardwood base. The wood grain is fine with a natural luster, and the underside shows dark polishing marks, which were intended to increase the stability of the display. What you see is what you will get.
