Song/Yuan Style Qingbai Glazed Bird Figurine Hutian Kiln Style Porcelain
Item Description: Style/Period: Song / Yuan Dynasty Style c. 11th-14th Century Kiln Type: Hutian (Jingdezhen) Style Dimensions: Approximately3 inches tall. Item Details: A beautiful and delicately molded porcelain figurine of a bird perched upon a rocky outcrop. This piece features a classic Qingbai (Bluish-White) glaze, also known as Yingqing or “shadow blue, ” which pools to a deeper watery blue in the recessed details of the feathers and eyes. The bird is accented with iron-brown underglaze spots, a hallmark of 13th-14th century artistic styling. The unglazed base reveals a fine-grained, sugary-textured porcelain body with visible iron-oxide oxidation (rust spots), consistent with the high-fired wares of the Hutian kilns. Condition: Excellent vintage/antique condition. The base is flat and unglazed, indicating this was likely used as a standalone scholar’s object or paperweight. No chips or cracks are visible; please see photos for the natural glaze “teardrops” and oxidation marks. Provenance: Collected 20 years ago.
