Antique Hutschenreuther Art Deco Nude Horn Bird Porcelain Statue by Carl Werner. Today we are pleased to offer for sale a fabulous antique Hutschenreuther Art Deco statue! This is a gorgeous antique piece, expertly crafted and detailed, and made by the renowned Hutschenreuther porcelain factory. The company was started in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in Hohenburg, Germany. Carolus hired artists, sculptors and craftsmen from across the European continent – he wanted his products to be the finest in the world. Later, his son Lorenz Hutschenreuther opened a second facility in Selb, 1857, and successfully competed with established companies like Wedgwood. Its most famous figurines were created between 1917 and by 1926, and the company won accolades for its porcelain sculptures. Today, Hutschenreuther continues to produce some of the finest sculpture, ornaments, and dinnerware. It features a graceful and lovely nude young maiden with fair skin and blond hair in pigtails. She stands on a round base with grassy ground with white tree trunk/branch with yellow flowers. She delicately holds a white horn, while a mystified brown bird gazes up at her. The piece is hallmarked on the bottom “Hutschenreuther Gelb Lion(picture of lion is within circle) LHS(letters are within circle beneath lion) Germany Kunslableilung” and additionally still retains the company paper label with registration number. It is also marked “SK” most likely the decorator who painted this piece. The statue presents beautifully and is in excellent antique condition, with minimal display wear and patina commensurate with age. One flower has a very tiny flake (it is nearly invisible to the naked eye), while the base has another very small flake near the artist’s signature – again nearly invisible.
