Antique Hague Amstel Porcelain Bird Scene Vase w Lid Porzellan Vogel Szene Dutch
For sale is a superb lidded vase most likely painted by Royal Dommer & Cie at Nieuwer Amstel between 1809 and 1814. The blank was likely made at Ansbach since it is hard paste. Apparently Dommer used this mark of the stork normally used at Hague and he also used the Amstel marks from the previous Dutch makers plus different color marks for Amstel as well. The factory closed in 1814 and with it the last of the Dutch makers which is a real bummer since they made some superb porcelain! The decoration of this vase is superb! It has a hand painted bird scene to the front and back with a small polychrome floral arrangement to each side. The top has that typical under glaze blue with gold trim over it design to it with floral swags in between. A bit of gold trim to the top and bottom. The lid has the same trim and swag design to it with a bit of gilding to the edge and knob / finial. The piece is in superb condition with just a small chip to the top of the finial as shown. A minor touch of wear to the gilding but the piece displays perfectly and looks amazing! The piece with the lid in place is 10.375 inch tall and 4.5 inches in diameter.
