ANTIQUE CHINESE A PAIR OF. EUROPEAN-DECORATED BLANC DE CHINE COCKERELS. Each white Chinese cockerel is enameled in iron-red, red, black, orange, and yellow colors, and each one is perched on a rocky outcrop. CONDITION: Extremely light rattle when shaken. This is very typical of fine porcelain figurines and is a result of the tiny steam hole being punctured, which allows pressure to exit during firing so the item won’t explode in the kiln. The rattling sound is made by the little plug of porcelain that becomes dislodged in making the steam hole. He left one shown in the picture has hairlines from the belly to the tail, a slight chip on the cockerel’s comb, and both have a slight painting.
