This fabulous pair dates to the 1980’s and is so evocative of the era’s teal/lavender/pale pink color scheme think of Alexis Carrington’s suite at the Carlton Hotel on. The birds are large (a little over 17 in height) and nicely crafted of hefty porcelain. The pair depicts the Chinese Fenghuang mythological birds (also known as the Ho Ho birds) found in Sinospheric mythology that reign over all other birds. They are depicted standing on rocky bases and feature regal long tails and majestic stance. They are glazed with pale colors in teals/light blues/pink/lavenders. Both pieces are marked on the bottom with the maker’s mark and “China”. Pair presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. There are a few minor manufacturing flaws/skips in glaze and a small stable firing fracture on the base of one bird. No other chips or cracks. Please review all photos before purchasing.
